I Love My Flag. I Love My National Anthem.

1992.  The Story of Our Flag.  A Bellerophon Coloring Book.  I found this coloring book yesterday at Half-Price Books along with several other coloring books and paper dolls.  I have nothing but disdain for Americans that disrespect the American Flag and the American National Anthem and I am proud of the Founding Fathers of my Country.
  I have once again been amiss in posted on this blog.  I do genealogy and I received my DNA results a few weeks ago and it has been all consuming of my time.  So much Fun.  Learning how DNA results work has been very interesting.  My mom's family always thought their grandmother and great-uncle had American Indian blood because they had such dark skin, hair and eyes.  The results of the DNA for my mom and her siblings revealed that it is actually an African ancestor I should be looking for, which is a totally different kind of researching.  My ethnic DNA results are as follows:  Great Britain, Ireland, Scandinavia, Europe West (France), Finland, Russia and the Caucasus.  All sibling will have some differences in their ethnic DNA results unless they are identical twins.  Also the DNA results will match people to other people with shared ancestors.  Anyway, I know this is boring to most people so I will stop.  Have a great day and GOD Bless America!

1983.  A Smithsonian Coloring Book "First Ladies Gowns".  I meant to include this Abigail Adams coloring page with the paper doll I posted yesterday.  I remember as a child going to the Smithsonian and viewing the first ladies dresses.

2001.  Lucille Ball as Lucy Ricardo in episode #38 "The Operetta" from the I LOVE LUCY television show.  I LOVE this coloring book, "Color Me Lucy" by Tom Watson.

1985.  AMERICAN DOLLS of The Twentieth Century Coloring Book.  Written and Illustrated by Nancie West Swanberg.  Published by Troubador Press.  A fun coloring book featuring a Margaret O'Brien doll and a SHIRLEY TEMPLE doll.

Jacqueline Kennedy's Inaugural Gown

 January 13, 1973.  "Mrs. Kennedy wore this white cape and gown in 1961.  Cut and color your First Lady paper doll."  From The Mini Page.

1983.  FIRST LADIES' GOWNS, A Smithsonian Coloring Book.  Illustrations by Geraldine Lucas.  "Jacqueline Bouvier Kennedy.  The First Lady provided ideas and sketches to the designer for this white silk dress, worn to John F. Kennedy's inaugural ball in 1961.  The bodice is embroidered in silver thread, and is veiled overall with white chiffon to give a soft, shimmering effect.  The cape is of the same silk, triple-layered with chiffon.  An embroidered frog adorns the military collar."

2006.  Another coloring page from the great Dover Coloring Book, "Color Your Own CLASSIC MOVIE POSTERS".  The book has coloring pages for Casablanca, Duck Soup, Asphalt Jungle, Stagecoach, Singing In The Rain, Ben Hur, West Side Story, Giant and many others including the above, FORBIDDEN PLANET.  My favorite page out of the book is for the movie, IT HAPPENED ONE NIGHT.  I highly recommend this coloring book.

Fun With MICKEY MOUSE

 March 11, 1963.  A MICKEY MOUSE cut-out that was to be used as a reminder to watch The Mickey Mouse Club on television.  The cut-out could be used to make a Mickey mask for your trick or treat fun.

 December 29, 1990.  A movie coloring contest for "THE PRINCE AND THE PAUPER" starring Mickey Mouse and the Disney gang.

1978.  From a coloring book I bought at a thrift store.  Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, Donald and Daisy can be made into finger puppets.

PHILIP I and JUANA, King & Queen of Spain

1996.  Costumes For Coloring.  Kings & Queens Around the World.  Illustrated by Jenny Williams.  Text by Laura Driscoll.  Grosset & Dunlap, New York.  "PHILIP I and JUANA, King (1504-1506) and Queen (1504-1555) of Spain.  Philip and Juana became king and queen of Spain when, in 1504, Juana inherited the throne from her mother, Queen Isabella - the very same Queen Isabella who paid for Christopher Columbus's 1492 trip across the Atlantic.  Philip died in 1506.  Juana was brokenhearted, and she was obviously not willing to say good-bye to her husband.  She toured all of Spain with his coffin, and even took Philip's corpse with her when she retired to the countryside in 1509!  She became widely known as Juana the Mad.  Her son, Charles, became king in 1517 with Juana's permission.  Officially, mother and son ruled together until Juana died in 1555.  In reality, however, Juana was too depressed to do anything but mourn for her husband."  My kind of coloring book.  Learning history while coloring great illustrations.

Celebrating the TEXAS Declaration of Independence

 1974.  The Story of TEXAS.  A History Picture Book by Betsy Warren and Martha Ingerson.  RanchGate,  Austin, Texas.  I found this book about 4 months ago at Half-Price Books.

On March 02, 1836, a Declaration of Independence was issued from Washington-on-the-Brazos where the delegates were meeting in a blacksmith's shop.  I see SAM HOUSTON on his horse everytime I go to Hermann Park.  To be continued on March 06 . . . a day to remember!
